From Baie St Paul to Tadoussac - Along the St Lawrence River

As you travel east further along the St Lawrence river the scenery gets wilder and the places more remote - gorgeous countryside. We spent the whole day on this 120kms jourrney, breaking for coffee in St Irénée, photographs at Port au Persil and a walk at Baie de Rochers. The day started bright but by lunchtime was decidely squally and the mist was swirling on the river, the light constantly changing.

Here are a selection to view and for C&C of course please

The harbour at Baie Des Rochers - at low tide you can walk to the island on the left

    5
La Rivière Baie des Rochers - raging after the rain

    6
The rickety bridge - which we did cross for our walk

At the end of walk and as we reached the St Lawrence River this was the view. This is one of those places locals had advised us to visit and when we got there, we really found out why. There were no more than a dozen of us there that afternoon. You had to make an effort to get there....but it was so worth it.

Anse de Sable - A beautiful place to have a house, but only if you are immune to midges.

For me 3,4,5,7 and 10 are very nice compositions Kaye. And my fav is 5 I would add some more structure or clarity to the driftwood to make it stand out more.I would center the horizon in #7 by cropping the bright part of the sky. The highlights seem a bit too much in #4 but I don't know if the image looks artificial or not when the highlights are reduced

    They look OK to me.

Maybe I would have preferred a definite sharper image in the foreground of #8 to act as an 'anchor point' so the rest of the scene appeared more obviously misty; as you have nicely achieved with #9.

Very nice Kaye, I like the processing - #2 is my favourite, I love the minimalistic look of it. I would of framed it dead centre just to give it perfect symmetry but thats just personal preference.

You're tugging at my heart strings with all these images of Quebec, Kaye. I lived in la belle province for four years and it has a very big place in my heart.

I especially love the driftwood shot.

Thanks Geoff - helpful as ever. Looking again at 8, I agree it looks a bit woolly and 9 is better.

Too many to really C&C but they are all good. I like the brightness of the first 3, the composition of the 4th and the mood of number 7. Hard to pick a favorite!

Thanks Janis - continue to look over the next week or so, if your heart strings can bear it, as I will have more to post from around Tadoussac and Lac St Jean.

Re: From Baie St Paul to Tadoussac - Along the St Lawrence River

I enjoyed the series Kaye, (viewed last night)

I didn't feel the need to provide you with critique - I don't think you need it - but perhaps I'm just being lazy - ask me if you wish

If I had to pick a fav, I'd struggle to choose between the first three, perhaps even just the first two, mainly because of their simple, strong compositions (etc.)

In #1; I might have cropped a slither off the right hand side if mine, but I'm getting in to details ...

    Cheers, Dave

Kay - you've certainly managed to visit some of my favourite places along the North Shore of the St. Lawrence River. You've come back with a set of nice images. Some of the places look vaguely familiar, but others I don't remember visiting at all.

Thanks Dave - critique is always welcome, you are always honest but never brutal, that is the beautiful characteristic of this forum.

    Thanks for looking

Time to revisit perhaps ? Thanks for looking - there will be a few more to follow along the fjord and Lac St Jean when I have had an opportunity to sort and process.

Thanks Nandakumar - I did wonder !! It's funny how when Tinypics has it's occasional blip it reverts to images which are offensive, why couldn't it be a picture of a flower or something more innocuous

Most previous 'blips' had been innocuous - until recently; when two now have not been so
