CS5 content-aware fill... prepare to be amazed.

You might want to watch this before you go out and buy CS5!

So, I thought I'd try it for myself. I had 4 shots for a panorama of Swansea SA1 marina. Processed them in CS5 RAW and synchronised them. Out put to PS and photomerged. This was the result.

This, as you are no doubt aware is a problem as the perspective has resulted in the ragged edge, and I really want the edges intelligently filled. I selected the white edges with the magic wand tool, hit the delete key and checked 'content-aware'. It thought about it, laughed at me and tried to tell me I didn't have enough memory. I have 6GB!, so I slapped it, and told it to get on with it. And this was the result.

And after the usual touching-up, I ended up with...

CS5 content-aware fill... prepare to be amazed.

OK, I cropped off a lot of the water it had filled so well, but I left the sky. How do they do that?

"Ah, yes..." I hear you say, "...all very well, but it's not proper photography"

An even better example of the capabilities... I wonder about a new addition to my house... think it's possible?

Pah! That's nothing. Yesterday I took a shot of my wife and I. I wasn't happy with the way my wife looked as she was doing her normal business of trying very hard to ruin a shot by acting like a goon. I used the lasso to select her (I can recall doing that on our first date...) and hit the delete key with content-aware selected. Magically, Kate Winslet appeared where my wife had been. I'm very happy with the outcome and have writtten to Adobe thanking them for such a wonderful tool as CS5.

PS: There has to be a CiC competition in this somewhere (insert man thinking smilie here)

Well, Colin, she's not Kate Winslet, but I am very aware of the content here. Nice helmet.

Personally, I'd go for George Clooney, with or without helmet. Or anything else, for that matter. #insert demure folded hand smilie#

Well, you will be fine for expensive watches, and as much coffee as you can drink! I think you need CS5 Extended for the Clooney plugin.
