    Sunflower Power

I cheered my self up a bit today by shooting sunflowers. A mixture of watering and chicken poo pellets has certainly got them blooming.

Hi Steve: Nothing like sunflowers to brighten up one's day My picks are 1, 3 and 5 with 3 being my favourite and 5 a close second. They really stand out against the background. I like the corner shots too, you always manage to come up with something original and the more I look at them, the more I like 2 and 4 also.

Do the birds come and feed on these in the fall when they go to seed?

Thanks Wendy. This is the first year we have grown these multi-head sunflowers but I expect the birds will love them. At present they seem to attract hundreds of hover flies

    Cheers

Nice images. Like the blue background and the light.

What are your sources of background color and what type of lighting source did you use?

I use A0 size art board. It comes in just about every colour and shade you can think of. For both indoor and outdoor I simply fired the flash through a shoot through brolly. Used manual indoor and Av outdoor. I know you are not supposed to diffuse outdoors but I did not want the flash to dominate but simply to fill the darker areas of the sun flower.

I think that the yellow sunflower is gorgeous against that intense blue background...
