Most Photographed Birds at Mud Lake

I think that this owl has been on every TV stations in the Ottawa area. Not a great photo but "cute".



Even though I completely screwed up the water in this shot, I like the wood duck and its reflection. I'll do better the next time.

Looks like you had difficult lighting with the second image, Andre.

I usually struggle with birds containing both black and white colours; even under perfect conditions.

So, for me, the duck is quite acceptable.

I'm OK with the bird, it's the reflection of the featureless sky and the loss of the ripples in the water that bother me.

I don't know. I think that it might be a saw-whet owl. Hopefully a birder will enlighten us.

Nice Andre, I'm missing mud lake about now. I know this is the best time of the year to be out there. I like these two shots. The one Owl I was able to see out there was an Eastern Screech Owl.

I am sure that your current posting will bring you many new opportunities to challenge your photographic skills. I discovered early in my 32 years career in the Canadian Forces that it is far better to appreciated where you are than regret what you left behind with each new posting.

Couldn't agree more Andre...and my Canadian Forces experience was the same. Problem here is that I have to work / live within a pretty strict security architecture that doesn't give me the movement freedom I would like to get out with my camera. TDV. Stu
