My new hand painted ceramic tilework gallery. I´m proud of it! :)

In Portugal and Spain, hand painted ceramic tilework are found on the interior and exterior of churches, palaces, ordinary houses and even train stations or subway stations. They were not only used as an ornamental art form, but also had a specific functional capacity like temperature control at homes. Many "azulejos" (as we use to call them) chronicle major historical and cultural aspects of Portuguese history.
I decided to build up a gallery based on this subject. Here are some:

    Superb set.

We're going to be staying close to Pinhao for 4 days in September. I believe the railway station is the most magnificent to see.

Beautiful imagery of beautiful subjects. Both my wife and her mother have artistic talents and are certain that these talents flow from their Portuguese ancestry. My wife is 1/4 Portuguese and her mother was 1/2 Portuguese. Both my wife and I would absolutely love to visit Portugal some day. Thank you for sharing these lovely images...

It is. However, I´d also suggest a short trip over a village called "S.João da Pesqueira" Once there, ask for "Miradouro de S. Salvador do Mundo". You´ll be delighted with the views...
