Helpful Posts: I just purchased a Tamron 24-70mm 2.8 VC as well as a Tamron 70-200mm 2.8 VC. I've been drooling over a 70-200mm since I got into portrait photography and I'm so happy to own one now! Here is one of my test shots. As always, CC welcome.

I just love the 70-200mm focal range for portraits!

Yes, that 24-70 lens is the best small zoom which I have ever used. I find it to be noticeably better than my previous Canon 24-105; which has now been relegated to rough use only.
I have the Canon 70-200 which is excellent so I can't really comment on the Tamron alternative.
At one time I regarded Tamron as being a manufacturer of budget lenses but they certainly seem to be producing some high quality products now.
