    Snow Poodle (C&C welcomed)

Raven is going to be 1 year old in 3 weeks -- where does time go. This has been her first winter with the snow, and she loves it! We had another "surprise" snow storm yesterday (forecasted for 2 inches; we ended up with 12.)

Raven will be a smaller Standard Poodle at about 45 pounds, which is fine with me.

I see a happy, but wet and smelly dog in your future!

Tough shot to get facial details in the bright, harsh light. The snow makes a wonderful larger reflector and you have used it to your advantage. How much exposure compensation did you need for that shot?

Raven is a beautiful girl. I love her intent expression and all the flying snow.

There are a lot of textures in this picture, with the potential to be busy, but you handled it well.

Thank you Manfred. I shot on Manual because of the black dog and snow; the compensation was +2. Def not the nice light that I had with my horse last weekend that I posted.

You're right -- she was very wet, but thankfully poodles don't smell -- they have hair (like a human) rather than fur.

Great action shot with perfect tonalities in the shadow and the bright areas! Caption it "Determination."

Thanks for confirming. That's what I figured you had used (I think I'm finally starting to nail the EC required when I look at a scene_.

Great shot, Kim. The bright snow reflected in the eyes really makes them pop. There are a couple of black poodles that run agility up here and getting their eyes to show is a real challenge. Here you did awesome.

Kim, I would say that you did everything right on this one. Flying snow, excellent exposure, the facial expression, and let's not forget about those ears flying above her head. Caught at the right moment.

I was wondering if a bit of brightness and structure might not bring more notice to Raven's face and eyes... However, I suspect that the difference is in the monitor or monitor's calibration...

You should post your other snow pictures of her, as well, Kim, if you have not already done so! They are stunning as well.

I am not going to be around for a bit -- my family suffered a tragic loss this weekend of my beloved brother.

I appreciate all the kind comments about Raven's image - as my brother loved her so (he said he always thought there was a human in there) - I will post one more at Marie's request.
