Yes, I was a bit disappointed at the small size of the deck but like everyone else I stepped very gingerly onto the glass.

    Re: cityscape

Originally the Sears Tower, now called the Willis Tower. People still call it the Sears Tower and a few tourists were standing right in front of the building asking "where's the Sears Tower"?

I wasn't familiar with Meigs field and did a little research. Apparently, it is now a city park. But that was the location for the airport that is shown in the photo.

Every time a see an image like this of Central Park, something asks that I go there one day. Seems odd, when I live in a country with an abundance of parks and trees, but it's something about the island of green inside a ring fence of skyscrapers that does this.

    BINGO (Little aviation humour there!)

Early versions of Microsoft's Flight Simulator would always start you from Meigs field ... I've never seen a photo of it before, but recognised it instantly -- how's that for scary? :eek"

I think I had a beta version of that flight simulator. Just goes to show you how much attention pilots pay to the landing strip.

It's amazing how many cities have a structure like the one you posted. I know of at least four cities with a tower such as that. If that were my architectural design, I would be expecting royal royalties.

I think you would enjoy the movie 'Troll in Central Park' Kit....dear wee chap gets sent as a punishment to the city where nothing grows, except when they throw him out in NY - he lands in Central Park

You are dead right, John. There is a similar tower in Sydney, also. One of the first, I think, but as Aucklanders love to tell us Aussies - theirs is taller.

Yes and it is a quite easy one but not easy to land on the football pitch.

Never had to do one of those for real, thank goodness - although there's a golf course at the end of the runway I used most often

By the way, 5 points to the first person who can explain my "BINGO" remark (as it pertains to Aviation)
