    Staredown at the OK corral

My wife puts out bird seed and cracked corn for the backyard visitors. This squirrel came along to help himself to the bowl of seed/corn by our back door. Sparky the cat saw it and they had a staredown. This squirrel brought his attitude with him too. He didn't pay any attention to the cat when eating. This interaction happened only when the squirrel had enough to eat and was just taunting Sparky. I saw this and had to capture it. Watching this matchup was worth the price of admission and is great entertainment without even leaving the house.

And that shot is another example of why our cameras should always be in easy reach. Well done!

Brilliant. That is a lot of snow outside.

    Good capture...
I totally agree about having a camera handy! I missed a humpback whale totally broaching out of the water today as I was returning from an ocean fishing trip. We are used to gray whales but this humpback was really something.
Naturally, none of us had camera in hand and the whale only broached once.

Dem, that actually isn't snow. It is the patio surface. It is called an aggregate finish, which just means the rocks in the cement are exposed. It was very cold, though. About 24 deg F. Thanks for the comment.

This doesn't always work with me though...good comeback though...

One day Brian, that cat of yours and that squirrel will become friends just like like Jim (Ziggy)'s Mr.Rusty and the deer...
