I don't know which one is really better. But I prefer the second one. The road gets a more important roll in the composition and to me that looks better. I also like a less square format, so again the second one.

The second for me too.
I trhink there's an overall better balance to it. In the first one, the building takes up a significant proportion of the image and gives a sense of dominating its surroundings, whereas in #2 it, in my opinion, is more in harmony with its setting which, for an image like this, I think it needs to be.
