    Double pollination

Took these at the National Bison Range today. The first are on Yarrow and the second on Lupine. I have no idea about the insect species. Hope someone can help on this.
The flower is the Bitterroot, the Montana State flower. Important in the Native American diet.

I don't know insect species, Dave, but these are nice images: I don't know what those first two are doing, but I suspect it's inappropriate for younger viewers.

    Cheers,

The first ones could be soldier beetles....doing what soldier beetles do best! Some days it's harder to find one on it's own than a mating pair. Could help explain their numbers though! You should be able to find several different species in grass and in the woods.

The 2nd is even more of a guess based on the short wing casing on it's back - a kind of rove beetle? Rather pretty whatever it is
