Pisa (Italy) - as seen from the top of the leaning tower.....

I like #1, Rui. These shots are very vertiginous, aren't they!

They are! And, you canīt imagine how tough is to to climb the tilted (yes, tilted!) steps all the way to the top!
Thanks for commenting.

Is it harder (i.e. more tilted) than when I did it about 40 years ago?
I think I remember not being able to 'get it all in' (shot) with a Kodak Instamatic back then, but (at 10mm on a D200) you have a wider angle lens :)
At least the dull weather avoided the buildings being too bright and contrasty, but a blue sky would be nice.
Re: Pisa (Italy) - as seen from the top of the leaning tower.....
It is more tilted for sure! As you know it is somehow strange to climb steps at a not leveled floor... sometimes down (even climbing...), sometimes up.:)
About the sky - I tought that it was nice like I saw , aiming an "old fashioned" look to the whole picture.
Thanks for your comment.

I suppose that you mean the Cathedral on the first image or, the building to the left of the tower on the second. Yes it is very interesting. Hereīs an image taken inside:

Unfortunately, the only time I was there (? late 1980s ?) was when it was closed to the public as the authorities tried to work out what to do to stop the lean getting worse. So, never got the chance to try.

You are absolutely right! It was the second time Iīve been there (when I took the shots). Sometimes, they use to close it for safety reasons and to do some restore works. Generally it doesnīt last, probably (among other reasons) because each climbing person must pay abt Euro15,00 to reach the top.....

Rui, the second photo gives a nice sense of scale to the buildings and says something about the weather conditions too - little scurrying people with umbrellas up. One day I hope to get there myself...

That "sense of scale" was the effect I was looking for. Thanks for commenting!
