    Young Musician

The son of some friends of mine is a very talented musician. 14 yrs old and is a wicked Blues player, guitar and sings. So at the request of his parents I have been taking photos of him, which is really helping me on the experience side. C&C welcome

The first one stands out, for me, with the bit of colour in the B&W. The shot would work well on liner notes or a promotional poster. If he is on the road this summer, there is a big Blues Festival in Nova Scotia in August that he would enjoy. Lots of big names.

Blues festival sounds very cool, but he is not at that point just yet, but probably could be. Too bad your on the other side of the country

This is my pick of the set. Brilliant composition that packs lots of atmosphere into the image.

#1 and #3,outstanding.I like the concept of #2,but for me,it would have more impact if you could get him on a section of rail where there aren't any buildings.Maybe switch to an acoustic guitar for that shot?

    Re: Young Musician

I'm with Donald on this one in that #4 on the list before me is the one that has the most immediate impact. However, #1 and #2 where you have ghosted in several views of the young man are very clever. I would have tried to tighten all the shots, perhaps even overlapping a couple of ghost images. Also, given that this is a "blues" player, I might have tried a blue wash as a monotone. Just some ideas.

    Cheers

thanks for the comments everyone. The buildings in the background on the rail one, i never thought of that. This was my first real shoot with anyone, so I will keep in mind to look for a rail system in a more rural area and possibly redo the shot. I am still experimenting and learning from my work.

Also, as for acoustic guitar, I wanted to bring one along, but his 12 string was being fixed at the time. But it will surely be coming out with us next time around
