    Looking for a mule

Anyone from the UK going to New York city anytime soon and, if so, would they be willing to do a bit of shopping for me at B & H (or Adorama)?

I'm looking to get a Singh Ray Mor Slo 5 stop ND. I'd be happy to lodge payment in your bank account before you make the trip.

Doing it this way would be most convenient for me.

Hi Donald, B&H are currently closed for a religious holiday I think they reopen for business on the 7th October.

    Donald,
    FYI.
There are quite a few companies on line that will give you a mailing address in the USA and forward goods to you at a reasonable fee enabling you to purchase from the likes of B&H, our own Australia Post the national mail carrier even does it.

Google "US postal address forwarding" for more info.

    Hi, Donald;

I'm living in New York now, after marrying a native New Yorker and moving down from Canada; so here's the scoop on buying from B&H: if you purchase directly at their store, you pay New York State sales tax. If you buy at their store BUT ship to, say, a New Jersey address you do not pay tax because you are not a New York State resident. So, having someone buy from their store for you might end up costing more than you anticipate...

Yep... visiting family in Texas in a couple of weeks... there's a little something enroute that I will be bringing back in my carry-on! No tax, no shipping and even with the CDN-US exchange rate, it's still cheaper than trying to buy the same stuff locally.

    Re: Looking for a mule

Some folk will remember me starting this thread a few weeks ago.

Well, I'm delighted to say that thanks to one of the members on here, I now have a Singh-Ray 77mm Mor Slo 5-stop ND filter in my hands. From New York City to New Jersey, to Yorkshire, England to Glenfarg. I am very, very grateful.

With this on and the Vari ND on top of it, I'll have up to 13 stops to play with.

    Donald,
I'd love to see an image shot using a 13 stop ND filter. That is amazing!

    Thank you, Izzie.

I have some ideas that involve some of the trees that I've photographed before, along with some good, cloudy skies. But there are still too many leaves on the trees. I need to wait a few weeks for that.

A lot of folk have water in mind when they start thinking about long exposures. For me it's clouds. Although, having said that, I'm not averse to going down to some of the beautiful harbours along the north east part of the county of Fife, just near St Andrews, which is quite close to me. But I'm not a fan of long exposures on rivers (waterfalls, etc). I prefer seeing texture and structure in that water.

Agree with you wholeheartedly there...milky is not my type either and some of them are really overprocessed...
