    dance school performance

    Well, after asking for help, I feel obliged to post some pictures from the first performance Comments welcome of course.

    Conditions were slightly horrible, as the technician responsible for the lighting hadn't practised... (and the building in the background had those 'nice' lights that changed colour all the time). But still a fun evening.

    Btw, no pictures with recognisable faces, as I didn't get releases signed (and French law doesn't like publication of recognisable pictures of kids w/o permission)

    Hi Remco,

    Looks like you did a good job - shame about having to blur a few faces, but even that's been done sympathetically.

    Glad you enjoyed it,

    Hi, Remco;

    Looks like very good results in tough conditions: I'm sure you'll be glad to have this quality to remember your daughter's event.

    Cheers,
    Rick

    Quite a nice job... I'd love to see the first shot with the dncers outlined against a complete black background. The lit doors/windows are distracting.

    Regarding the second shot: What was your EXIF data? Could you have increased ISO or opened up the aperture a bit in order to get a slightly faster shutter speed?

    First off, thank you all for your comments.
    As for blurring the faces, the dancers did that quite convincingly themselves in those three

    Richard: the background was indeed annoying, I'll have another two occasions in a real theatre to try and get better images. As for the EXIF, apologies for the disappearance, the program* I use normally transfers the metadata when saving. The batch treatments obviously don't , time for a bug/wishlist report perhaps.

    To get back to the question, I shot that one at 400 ISO (1/30s @ F5.6) with the camera on a monopod, so I could indeed have gone up a bit.
