I can only imagine the joy of exiting the train station upon a first arrival to the city and seeing such splendid architecture.

Wow. Interesting stuff. I guess wide at the bottom and skinny at the top works well when the ground moves.

I've some difficulties to analyse what I'm looking at. I still don't know what it is.
Are trafficlights in Japan horizontal placed?

The spiral feature is a sculpture / architectural feature located in a roundabout / traffic circle. The building is just an interesting looking building and yes, the traffic lights are horizontal.

Now I think I see. You should pay more attention to the background. Now it looks as if your sculpture is connected in some way to that other sculpture/building in the back and enclosing that radiator or whatever it is.

Funny, European or Latin way if writing is horizontal and trafficlights vertical, Japanese writing is vertical and trafficlights horizontal.

The image I took is not quite the way I wanted things to align, but then, walking across one of the busiest intersections in the third largest city in Japan (metropolitan Nagoya population is over 9 million people), limits what one can do. There are too many signs, cars and people to do much else. I wanted to include these two architectural features (and in focus) and noticed the interesting negative space that was broken up by the traffic light and street light.

As for the horizontal configuration of the traffic lights, this is quite common in North America (although based on my limited experience, the vertical configuration is probably most common). The Province of Quebec (which is quite near our home uses this configuration) and I have definitely seen it in some parts of the USA.

Just a masterpiece, I suspect, but don't know for sure.
