Broke focus ring..

Little gutted I suspect I can use my statutory before needing to use warranty. 9 mths isn't durable use in my world.

Thought I'd ask here just in case it's a quick fix. It's a Sigma 105mm f2.8 it seems sticky/slipping seemed to just stop focusing in use. Now it won't af or manual. I find tweaking the ring it will catch and focus to infinity or find more depth, but there's no pattern.

I strongly suspect this lens needs to go back to Sigma for repair. It's difficult to suggest a fix if the problem you see is inconsistent.

I had my one (and only) Sigma back in the shop for warranty repairs twice within 9 months of ownership. In both cases, the problem was with the autofocus system.

I had exactly the same problem with my Sigma 180 mm macro lens. It would work fine when pointing upwards but had exactly the same faults which you describe when pointing at a downwards angle.

Repaired by Sigma with no problems.
