    Frame within Frame - C & C are welcome

This pic was taken 10 days back during my visit to the old city area of my city, Surat, Gujarat, India. I found this dog, coming out of the house and then it stopped for a while. There was one more door inside from where nice light was coming and one man was going out of that room through that door, but it was quite far from the front door. The combination of the the man in silhouette at back door and the dog standing exactly in the middle of the front door, made me to capture this moment.

Your C & C will be highly appreciated.

    Regards,

    Tejal

Very good imagination here, Tejal. I like the context, the narrative of course and the decorative carving of the door add to the scene too...ooppps! that's not the door -- it's the frame that came naturally with the door.. nice shot..

    Well seen and captured Tejal,

    ... and nicely explained too.

If mine, I might crop down from the top of the frame to just exclude the 'banner' decoration since its sharpness and detail attracts the viewers eye away from the two principle subjects. Such a crop would slightly 'damage' the relativity of the shapes of the two 'frames', but it might just be worth it anyway.

    Hope that helps, Dave

Tejal - another nicely conceived and executed image.

The problem I have with it is all that dark space and while it is not totally devoid of detail, it really does not add anything to the image. My crop would be even more aggressive than what Dave has suggested and I would crop just above the back door. This brings both the dog and man into more prominence, and these appear to be the subjects of your shot.

As Dave has already discussed, this eliminates part of the frame, but then the banner detracts the viewer and once you remove it, then the dark between the back door and the trim line does as well.

Nice image shot at exactly the right time. I agree with Dave regarding cropping off the banner over the doorway.
