San Diego Maritime Museum
The San Diego Maritime Museum, located along San Diego, California's Embarcadero on Pacific Highway, is a living memorial to the seafarers who plied their trade on the oceans in earlier days. The centerpiece of this museum is the windjammer Star of India, a steel hulled sailing vessel from days gone by. The "HMS Surprise" was the sailing ship Rose berthed at Newport, Rhode Island until she was refitted to become "HMS Surprise" starring in the adventure movie "Master and Commander". Other vessels of interest are a Russian Submarine and the decomissioned ferry-boat, Berkeley. The weather was overcast and dreary so I concentrated on details. I need to return on a brighter day.

Re: San Diego Maritime Museum
Beautiful shots, Richard. Great studies of the complexity on a sailing ship.
Cheers,
Rick
Re: San Diego Maritime Museum
All-round quality set, Richard. An inspired approach to capturing the complexity, but also the beauty, of the rigging (#2), which I always find the amazing part of these ships.
Re: San Diego Maritime Museum
Nice way of capturing so much that could not be contained in one image.
