    Macro (insects) Tip

If you mix 10 tablespoons of sugar into 1L of lukewarm water then use a spray bottle to spray it on plant leaves it's a really good way of attracting flies, lady bugs and wasps. I suggest using a true macro lens with a 15 and or 20 extension tube.

I have tried this some time ago and it can work for attracting all the common species but I never found anything of any real interest coming to sugar mixtures. And be careful of getting over shiny leaves in you photos as a result.

Possibly worth trying for those who are just getting into macro and want lots of easy practice shots.

Some moths will come to various syrup mixtures and moth moth specialists have their own mixes. Ingredients include honey, black treacle and rum along with many other mixes.

Rum Punch. We did a butterfly house excursion in the Carribbean a couple years ago - a small drop of punch (tropical fruit juices + light rum) and you had a willing subject for a couple minutes.

I have a gallon bottle of Spice Rum, will that do? If I put it in my bird bath will I get a drunk chipmunk?

Izzie, drink it yourself - and you will see, what you want and depending on how you handle your camera after drinking, you might see some very unusal pictures.

Unfortunately, I do not drink wine nor know anything about it and don't want to start now but I can find unusual something to photograph even without getting drunk, you know...watch me!
