    Couple more Snow shots...

Here are two more shots from my day out in the snow, these are similar compositions to the others I posted but I think I prefer these.

Here's a link to the others: A series in the snow... (C&C Needed)

Nice captures, I like the cinematic feel of the first image.

It is a gorge with an area which you can walk behind the waterfall, this waterfall was actually used as the entrance to the batcave in the movie The Dark Knight Rises.

Although there is no cave behind there I'm sorry to say

I wonder if I would like the first one even more if it was made in a vertical orientation to complement the height of the waterfall. I realize that some of the snow would be eliminated on the sides but I think there would be a sufficient amount to display the same mood. If you prefer maintaining the horizontal orientation, consider cropping on the left to move the waterfall off-center. The image would appear less static. Doing so would also bring greater attention to the very nice detail on the right side, though I don't know why.

I like this version of the second one best of all because it looks both natural and somewhat dramatic.

Thanks Mike, I did originally try a crop from the left but it didn't work for me. I've cropped from both sides in the version below:

Yes! That last one works really well for me for all the reasons I mentioned plus one I didn't think of -- that the height lifts our eyes up to the opening at the top.

I adore the 1st image, especially as you have cropped it. Absolutely gorgeous, and a special scene. (snow and waterfall)

    Thanks for the help Mike

Thanks Christina, it was a bit of a trek to get to that spot in the snow, but worth it in the end.

It's the last crop of the waterfall (not the B&W) that does it for me Matt. There's interest from top to bottom and the bonus of the snow, well done.

I like the color version of vertical crop Matt. For B&W conversion, IMO the water needs a bit pop up , it looks a bit pale this way.

I prefer the color as well, they add so much more and are already so muted and soft that they add intrigue. Both photos are really nice! Thanks!

Love the cropped version, and the capture of the snow flakes adds to the shot!
