Cheers Brian, yep the one thing I notice, the more frames I take the luckier I get - next time burst mode and pick the one in focus

well had to have another go on this - not as nice a pose but this time I think the head is sharp so a step forward - now to get the tech right and the bird to pose properly

I though i had it nailed, but no!

Hi Mark. The sharpness looks better, good luck with the composition in your following trials

Yes, indeed you nailed it! Great focus on the head and eyes, beautifully sharp.

Thank you Binnur, I suspect it will be a lot of attempts and a lot of luck to get the previous pose again !
Thanks Christina, it was fun getting this one, lessons learnt and applied !

Try using ISO 800 or 1600 and keep aperture at f8 or smaller. On a bright day ISO 400 is probably fine. When they are flying towards you focus is possibly more of an issue than speed.

Although I like the wing position in the frame of #1, this one is an improvement of the head section. Can you just overlap the two shots and put the body of this last one on the first??? Will that be difficult? Ignore me...I am just asking for something possible but may not be really your cuppa.

L.Paul, thanks, the exif - F8, 1/1250sec iso 200 - not a problem with that aspect, its more the lens being able to focus on the head rather than the body when its all 'white'

    Cheers Grahame, appreciated

Izzie, hmm - nope would not know where to begin on that one - think I will wait and take loads more till I get a similar pose again, in a weird way that will be more satisfying
