    Hi Rob It's a silver birch tree the Pattern is due to the soil type it is growing in (I have been told) we have a few of those in this area.

    I had to dig back a long way to get back to my tree phase it rested somewhere between rotting paintwork and rocks in streams....ahh the days before I cared less about chromatic aberration



    And this one is even older snapped with a FinePix S7000 in the Yosemite valley
