    Do you have a macro lens, or at least a lens that functions as a macro? I shoot a lot of dying things (reminds me of my advancing years) but I find it best to focus on a smaller part of whatever it is. This one is of a leaf I found when out walking, Example of leaf. With your shot I feel there is too much there. I'd zoom in and focus on a particular aspect, and if you have a macro lens that would do the job very well. You need to watch shadows if you use flash or a strong light.
