Adobe PS CC Creative Cloud Availability Help

Having just completed my 30 day trial of Photo Shop CC today with the intention of purchasing the annual plan this is what I get when following the 'Buy Now' option.

Adobe PS CC Creative Cloud Availability Help

I have just used the trial for a month, no problems, do they not want my money?

Am I going mad or am I missing something obvious ?

Grahame, do they offer any other options? Like maybe CS6?

I'm not sure Frank but I will look into that now. I have a question up on one of the Abobe forums so hoping to get some advice there as well.

What I can't believe is that having successfully downloaded it all a month ago, received one update during that period I can not now purchase it.

I had trailed the latest Elements, CaptureNX, LR and then finally PS of which I was over the moon with and get this

Can you pretend you are in Australia or NZ? or register it via a relatives address.

I'm going to try that Paul and start off with setting up another User ID, depends whether it will recognise the email address that is a requirement when setting up.

    Edit :

I changed my CC User ID, changed my email address to a 'global' one I have, set my computer to a location of 'UK' but Adobe still recognises the area (Fiji) I'm in.

    Managed to get a list of countries where CC is available;

    http://www.adobe.com/content/dam/Ado...ity-matrix.pdf

Oh well, it looks like it's back to Elements 7..............................

I never realized CC was not available in certain countries. Looking at the list it seems to be mostly small countries and islands. http://www.adobe.com/content/dam/Ado...ity-matrix.pdf I presume it's some communication (internet) problem, but I don't know, and I can't find any explanation for it.

This thread on Adobe forum (and there are quite a lot like this) has a reply from a staff-member who suggest registering and doing the connection that is required every 90 days in a country that does have availability. The guy lives in Hong Kong but asks about using CC in China - she advises what to do. But it's not just the 90 day re-registration - you would still need to wait until you got to the registered country to get any updates, I think. That rather defeats the objective of CC. Do you travel regularly outside Fiji?

Thanks for that Rob, I'm baffled too because having used it for a month with total success and no problems on the islands standard broadband I can not think it has anything to do with 'communications'.

The crazy thing is that you have to register for the CC before you even download the programme and that all went like clockwork.

Unfortunately I do not travel out of Fiji often so that idea is out of the question.

My main reason for wanting to go to full blown PS was for 16 bit working and during the trial I found that the much newer ACR with its far greater selection of tools was brilliant for my specialist needs, mainly pushing landscapes leaving little to do in PS. I have just found that the same version of ACR is in the new Elements 13 so anticipate taking this route for now.

I note from the list it is available in Fiji from resellers. In NZ we can buy a years subscription to CC from a number of computer outlets. Check with Adobe Australia where the closest reseller is. When I have gone to their site and been hanging around for a while a pop appears saying someone is available to help. I once used it to provide a few words of wisdom to them regarding the design of the website and how difficult it was to find the non CC Lightroom upgrade info. The responses were amazingly quick, unhelpful (well to be fair not totally unhelpful) but polite. You never know you may get some help.

The world never ceases to amaze me. A guy lives in one of the most beautiful areas on the planet. He registers to use a free trial subscription. His registration is accepted as an incentive for him to potentially become a paying customer. After using the trial subscription and comparing it to competing offers, he then tries to turn over his hard-earned money to the company to license the software. What does the company do? It refuses to accept his money.

I think adobe have some problems

Last week I spent over 2 hours with technicions in India trying to resolve an updating issue. (Rather heated as I refused to let them access and control of my computer).
Kept getting same problem, essentially a very slow download and then cut off.
When I tried 2 days later, downloaded much quicker, and no problems - so the problem seems to be at Adobe's end.
They blamed me and my firewall - and wanted me to delete files and remove firewall - which 2 days later I diodn't need to do.

    Hi Grahame,

I'm sorry to hear this. My suggestion was also to try registering and downloading with a credit card, associated with an address in a country where it is available, or have a friend or relative do so on your behalf and send you the registration number (not sure if that would work)

I registered for the Cloud while in Mexico (available there) advising that while I was downloading the program on to my laptop once back in Canada I would be using the program on my desktop computer. Once back in Canada I called Adobe and it was no problem to set it up. Perhaps it could work in reverse? I truly don't know, just sharing ideas.

In a search I found this which suggests that you could purchase the program through Amazon... Again, I don't know if this is true.

    https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1198...art=0&tstart=0

Another thought would be to find a photographer or desktop publisher (InDesign) in Fiji who uses the Creative Cloud program and ask how they managed.

If none of the above works, I personally would purchase LR and just use Elements for the finishing touches, until the Creative Cloud program is available in Fiji.

    Hi Grahame,

What a bummer. A couple of thoughts.

Elements XXL is a plug in that unlocks a lot of the features of Photoshop that are in Elements but not normally accessible.

If you already have standalone Lightroom, as opposed to the trial version, you could add a 16 bit plugin such as Perfect Suite

And the obvious, give up on Adobe and go for one of the other full featured products.

Hi Grahame, although there are a few new features I'd like to try in CC or CS6, I'm not willing to be locked into the subscription model just yet so I continue to use CS5. Is obtaining a copy of CS5 doable for you? It may just give you everything that you need.

I have just watched part of a Photoshop training session with Ben Willmore and he states that the ACR adjustments available in CS6 give you much more leeway in editing than those in CS5 (you can push the sliders farther without seeing artifacts). I too have CS5 and am not quite ready to venture into the CC model but it is tempting some days as I would also like to see Lightroom in action.

My sympathies are with you Grahame!

Re: Adobe PS CC Creative Cloud Availability Help

Well thank you each for the helpful advice and sympathy but I have not given up yet.

I have taken Paul's advice and am presently contacting Australian re-sellers directly by email to see what response I get.

Whilst I appreciate there are different software routes I can take I found that the transition from Elements 7 to PS CC was an absolute doddle, they basically look the same and within a day everything I had been doing in Elements I could undertake in CC and then progressively moved forward. I want to spend my time taking pictures not learning another package whilst knowing it's not what I really wanted.

How come I have absolutely no problem whatsoever purchasing and using subscription based programs such as SmugMug, Kaspersky.............baffled

Grahame I don't know if this applies to your situation but the other day I had a similar experience with another site.

I used a credit card to attempt to make a purchase. It wouldn't accept it on-line so I called the company to see if I could place the order direct. It wouldn't accept on their end either so I hung up and called the bank. Seems they put a lock on the account without my knowledge because of suspected fraudulent activity. Seems they saw a charge they didn't like for some reason. Once I got the account unlocked- Happy Ending! And it was immediately accepted. I was surprised at how quickly, too.

Of course I don't know how you are looking to make a payment so this may be irrelevant.

Terry, it will not even let me get to the stage where payment is actually to be made. I suspect that would come instead of the message I get as shown in post 1.

I too have had similar problems with credit/debit cards over the years as I used to travel worldwide continuously and there was nothing more frustrating than getting off a ship after two months at sea at an unplanned port, rushing to an ATM to get some local beer tokens (cash) and then having to explain to some guy on the end of a phone at your bank why you did not have a b****y clue that you were going to be in this part of the world today and had not notified them previously

Well Grahame, sorry about that. I thought it might be worth a shot.

I don't get it either. I had no idea some countries cannot get a subscription. I would have thought all you needed was a good internet connection.

Please do let us know what you find out.

Grahame, have you tried giving them a phone call? It makes no sense that you can get the free trial but not the paid subscription. I had an issue down loading PS CC after using the trial version for a month. I Called customer support and got it resolved. The rep went above and beyond to get me up and running.

Re: Adobe PS CC Creative Cloud Availability Help

    Latest,

    Two replies from seven Australian re-sellers contacted;

    a) Re-sellers can not deal with CC subscription, only Adobe direct.
    b) Licences sold in Australia can only be used in Australia.

Licence can be purchased through seller on Amazon UK but small print mentions may not work in all countries and may be subject to additional costs or shutdown.

    I have 'chatted' online with an Adobe helper, quick good response;

Imran: It seems to be more over sales issue, I'll go ahead and provide you with the contact number of the sales department to know the price and to purchase the product, Is that okay for you?
Grahame Stageman: That's a big help
Imran: Please try contacting on this phone support number: ** *** **** ***.
Grahame Stageman: Thanks Imran, I'll try this avenue
    Imran: You are welcome.
Imran: Also try on this number ** ********.

Got through on the UK No to a recorded message, working hours start at 9 am so will be on that phone later tonight.

    Fingers crossed....................

PS, downloaded trial version of the latest Elements 13 and although ACR is the current version it does not have the additional tools as it does when it comes with Paintshop CC 2014 as I had earlier been led to believe from web info.
