Yes, black background looks better even for spent flowers...

Spent...spent...the damn things are dead Izzie. Black is better though!

BTW...that fertilizer stuff doesn't seem to work that well Izzie.

Thank you. And do you prefer them 'spent', dead, or alive and kicking?

We usually see them alive in the photos but your 'dead' composition is different and works fine too Rob

You must have brown hands. Mine is flourishing and I heard that even Miracle Grow is also usable for orchids. My Cattleya has 4 new leaves and I had moved it to a bigger pot too. 'Must be the location of your orchid. It doesn't need direct sunlight just a bright room. I've grown my Cattleya from a $5 discard from Lowes. Now I have two of them and also my Orchidales that I bought from Trader's Joe is flourishing and hasn't lost its flowers yet. And as I said I will buy some Cymbidiums because I was successful in them in Australia. I just did when we passed by another Trader's Joe in Des Peres after my eye stitches were removed -- a big pot for $19.99 including taxes. I will have to take a photo when I get my new camera...

Interesting capture, both work well in different ways.
