Composite image, the original was actually shot during daylight. I added the moon but the bird was there and stayed perfectly still for this one second exposure. I dropped the exposure in post by two stops, increased saturation of the water. Played around with color temperature and some simple dodging in the water to aid in the illusion of the moon. Kevin, since this is a composite, you can make the moon bigger and a bit transparent. You already have an audience there -- play with it.

Kevin, not a bad job at all...as Izzie suggested and assuming the moon is one it's own layer, make it 5-10% larger and drop the opacity about 10% then move it just a tad nearer the pier. Would also move the Heron left to the nodal point of a golden spiral.

Keep the colors...they're great.

It bothered me there for a while too and thought that it can be moved a little bit down or enlarged but I am torn about the pier cutting her head...that needs playing around...I will try to find an example that I have lying around...

I like it. Complements again on a technically accomplished and interesting vision. It remains striking and a bit other-worldly. It is a little moreso now, though, as in... So there IS another water planet out there somewhere. With a moon sort of like ours too!

Seriously - it is hard to know how big the moon should be - to the naked eye appears larger when near the horizon, but this is illusion as it subtends the same angle of view throughout its arc. I think this is about right - it certainly can appear as you have it at its emergence on the horizon.

Yes, I could make it as big as I want. I just feel that any bigger would distract from the rest of the image.
