    Egret Encounter.

This isn't a composite but the PP is a bit experimental so comments welcome.

The reflection at the top of the image is a bit unusual and adds an interesting counterpoint to the Egrets. What are you trying to achieve John?

I like this alot. it reminds me of a Japanese print.

Minimalist, high key, and much more than first meets the eye.

John, I like the style of processing but feel the reflection at the top is weighing too heavily on the composition. Maybe try lightening it?

John, I like it a lot. Am I correct in assuming that you selected the birds/reflections and applied
different PP to them and the background?

Hi John I loved the simplicity in the image . I agree with Greg about the reflection at the top.

    Re: Egret Encounter.

Thanks for all for a great set of comments.

Frank, I'm not sure. Probably just something that is reasonably viewable - my other half wants me to produce something to hang on a wall (I'm still getting over the shock ). These were taken back in September and I sometimes let image "settle" before I process them. When I do, it's what comes out I guess.

Can't make up my mind Greg. Classically the weight should be at the bottom but when I tried it this way, it appealed to me. Tried lightening the top but the detail begins to look irrelevant. What I have done though is to take a slice out of the middle to shorten the format and it looks less top heavy.

William (Chauncey), there was relatively little processing other than lifting some of the shadow areas on the birds and a slight boost in saturation. The BG was already relatively colourless (see original below) and all I did was to sharpen the image, lighten the highlights in Levels plus clone a bit of texture in down the sides.

    Egret Encounter.

Ah, but it is so much more than that John. You saw the possibilities within the composition that lifted the scene to a higher plateau. Well done!

That's a very generous comment Frank. Thank you.
