    Colorful Abstract

Some will no doubt recognize the object that I used to create this abstract. Creating the abstract was one heck of a lot easier than making the more traditional, realistic photo but no less satisfying.

Fascinating Mike. I quite like this; should be on quite a few walls. The flowing lines and colours are spectacular. Just as a matter of interest did you try other crops to see if they work to make it even more abstracted?

    Re: Colorful Abstract

    Thanks, everyone!

For anyone who didn't see my photo made a few days earlier, this is the source object.

Trevor: I made about 25 photos using various combinations of light and compositions. I even turned the object while the shutter was open in a couple attempts. I kept one other photo but like this one just a bit better, so I only posted this one. I would have more options for moving in on a tighter composition that makes a pure abstract with less hint of realism if I had a macro lens. I just might rent one.

yup - sussed the item, nice, makes the subject look fluid rather than solid, mercury like, with great colour gradation, very futuristic and sci-fi.

I recognised it, but it still makes me think of something automotive. I like the way it moves from colour to b&w.

Macro sounds like a good idea too, Mike.

It sure makes an interesting abstract. Can't wait to see the results when you rent the macro
