    A Rose is a Rose

    For your C&C.

I love the colours in this rose. It was difficult to do it justice.

Did I achieve it? The pinks? Best viewed in the lightbox.

    A Rose is a Rose

Just FYI, I did not crop this image yet - I left enough room on both sides for text.

We can only base our (color) opinion on what you've presented here, but I would say you've done a good job in capturing and processing the flower.

Hi Marie: On my monitor, the pinks look quite lovely. I don't know what they looked like in "real life", but this is certainly a pleasing colour. I always find it difficult to capture bright pink or orange flowers. My Jpegs don't come out quite right and I find that finding the right colour balance in RAW processing is also difficult.

Marie...I have two of these roses in my garden, one at the front and one at the backyard...this is such a beautiful rose, nice capture...is this for an advert or for a greeting card? Just curious...

    Izzie, I am not sure.

Certainly it can be used for any type of occasion.

IMHO, ya done good...perhaps just a little overexposure in the bright areas.

I like the way the pink pedals are haloed by the whites Marie! Does the blossom appear to be just a bit soft? Perhaps it is just the borrowed laptop I am using.

Ha!!! Frank, you have caught me out.

The image is a tad soft on the flat surfaces, but has a very narrow band of sharpness around the edges of the petals closest to the front of center.

I rather liked the image that way - to me, a rose is romantic and "soft".

    So there!!!!

Hi Marie, I have this rose as well, at least it sure looks like it. Mine is the "Dick Clark" and if that's what you've shot, the pinks almost perfect ... wonderful job.

    Dear Dave,

Thanks for supplying a name for this gorgeous rose. I had no idea.

David (deetheturk), thank you for commenting.

William, good to hear from you! I value your commentary.

Well Marie, I do not know what the real colour of this rose should be but I certainly like the colour I see on my screen which looks totally natural.

I too like the softness of it, but I'm just a fan of not seeing every single part of a flower or bug tack sharp

    Dearest Grahame,

That was the point - the pinks are vibrant and the goal was not to oversaturate them. You are right. some images are just meant to be shown with some softness - especially a rose as beautiful as this one.

Ole, LOLS! You hate roses? A high compliment then, that you have even taken the time to comment. Thank you!

Lovely rose, so difficult I find with any pink/red content to not blow them. You did well with this one.
