    More of Sasha

Some dogs are special and have special needs...

Sasha is a Terrier Mix (we suspect she is a Jack Russell - Papillion cross) who has been a foster with us for several months now. We expect that we will be adopting her because she has an early stage seizure disorder (evidenced by her biting at the air) that is completely in control with a low dose of relatively inexpensive meds (phenobarbital).

However, the thought of her seizure disorder frightens off many prospective adopters. Unless we find a super special home with a furever parent whom we can trust to continue her meds religiously and not give her up or put her down if her seizures get worse; we will keep her as our dog.

Of course, my wife and I will not mind keeping this beautiful and intelligent dog who is also very loving. A dog doesn't need to be perfect to be a wonderful companion...

BTW: Sasha is the only dog I have met that is as smart as my Goldendoodle, Holly. Of course Jack Russell Terriers as well as Papillions are quite intelligent as are Golden Retrievers and Poodles...

Good for you, Richard! It was meant to be -- she couldn't have found a better mom and dad than you and your wife. We have an ugly looking doggie, Roxie, that we decided to keep because she is soooo smart, even for her own good.

    Re: More of Sasha

I take back my statement about "so smart"! Sasha can be too smart for her own good. My wife brought some antibiotics home for another dog and left them in her purse on the bed. Sasha hopped up on the bed, got the plastic pill vial out of the purse, opened the vial and ate the pills.

Luckily, she vomited profusely. We called our vet who advised us that since she likely vomited up all the antibiotics, we didn't need to pump her stomach.
