Brisbane Street Photographs - Part 2

These are the result of another street session with a group of photographers.

    1. I followed this elderly couple for a while. He looked to be well into his nineties. I chatted to them briefly at one stage.

    2. They had just come out of the local St Vinnies (a charity shop) with their new angel.

Nice subjects. I'm seeing a bit of purple color on the woman's face in the first image, not sure if it's from your processing or the wall, perhaps it's the effect of the very warm colors in the background. In the second image, the tones are a bit flat, lacking in any color intensity. Nicely done on the third and fourth.

Tony, your #1 is great… would be perfect without the lamp post.
My favourite is #3. Not because of the man there but all the rest is awesome!
    A darn cool shot!

I like these images a lot. I am especially fond of #1.

However, there was something that bothered me about the image. I decided that it was the dark rectangular shape apparently protruding from image left of the utility pole. I realize that it might have been part of the mural but it really distracted me from the subjects. I was trying to figure out what it was rather than concentrating on these two very interesting characters. I simply selected the rectangular shape and did a content aware fill (with Photoshop CS6). This replaced the dark shape quite (and surprisingly) well.

I tried to do the same thing with the entire pole, thinking that it sort of cuts the image into three rectangular areas but, content aware fill was not successful.

I also really like the lines in image #4...

Thanks to all for the comments. They are most useful.

    My own preferences are #3, #1, #2, #4.

John, the purple in the woman's face in #1 seems to be just a reflection of the colour of the wall. Except for #2, the colour balance in all is "as shot" in ACR and no adjustment has been made except for a slight tweak of the clarity slider. The third one was difficult to process but only for the perspective and lens distortion. Because of the tall structures, the vertical lines of the sculptures needed to be exactly vertical.

I thought #2 showed a wonderful moment but unfortunately I messed up the camera settings for this shot and did not get enough depth of field. If the angel had been in focus, it would have been so much better. This is perhaps a better version where I have not played around with the colours.
