You'll get more helpful responses if you explain the camera body that you will use with the lens. Also provide a budget if you have determined one.

To add to Mike's comments; the price range you are looking at is going to be in the "kit lens" price range, and while I don't know Canon offerings particularly well, there are a lot of Canon shooters on this site who would be more than willing to help you.

Wildlife photography tends to rely on long lenses and given your budget, you may find yourself a bit limited.

I expect that you will get more responses on the equipment thread, so I am going to move your post to where it will get more views and replies.

    Re: Curious

What lens(es) do you have now?

    ***

If you have nothing longer than about 55mm then the EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS II - is worth a good look.

(which is the other "kit lens") you might pick one up at a good price second hand from someone who bought it as their second kit lens and who is now "upgrading".

I've used the original version - there appears to be only decorative differences in this MkII version, so you might even get an original version, cheaper, on the second hand market.

The Tamron 70-300 VC USD is an excellent lens with image stabilizer.

    Re: Curious

The Canon 55-250 certainly gets good reviews.

Even better is the Canon 70-300. The cheaper non L lens.

Besides that Tamron, I think Sigma make a good 70-300. Both perfectly acceptable lenses.

One older lens that you may still see is the Canon 75-300 but I wouldn't recommend it.
