Testing the NEW Profoto NIKON TTL-N for B1 Heads & adding D1 Heads

Kodiak Média received this morning, 2 weeks before official release
date, the new TTL-N. Needless to say that Olivier and were quite
excited and we spent the morning testing the unit.

First with the two Profoto B1 heads. Then, adding one D1 head to see
of the mix is viable. Followed two more D1 heads so that all three D1
heads are on the same channel (c). The main B1 was (a) and the hair
    line head was (b).

In this configuration, the B1s are indeed TTL! So no matter if the subject
is moving on the set, the reading is always right. The D1's are also "air"
controlled but are not TTL controlled. In this setup, they are triggered
at the same time than the B1's but the D1's were covering the set… as
the B1's were covering the model. Everything went well: foreseeable,
reliable, and precise! In short: boring.

As much as we are happy with the new tools, Olivier and I had so many
exchanges over this unit and often remarked: When the TTL-N will be
here, this will be done this or this way. We anticipated the tool so much
that now that it is there… no surprise=boring. Don't you ever dare try to
    take it away from us!

If it is anything like the PocketWizard FlexTT5 or MiniTT1 + AC3, then you are going to wonder how you ever managed to work without them in the "old days". Being able to control flashes separately right from your camera will really speed up your workflow and cut down on your (or Olivier's?) walking.

    Congratulations on your new acquisitions!

    How was the color match?

    Thanks Manfred.

We have all the ones mentioned above for our SB 900's… cool stuff. And
now, we have the same flexibility applied to studio flash.

Hey Terri, do you mean B1 vs D1?

If so, all Profoto heads have the same technology that grants constant
and correct power at any level and one of the most rigorous colour
temperature control throughout the system… which ever head combi-
    nation one uses.

That would have been the answer I would have expected Kodiac.

    Top drawer stuff.
