    Carlos in studio

Carlos is a very good friend of Olivier (I'm glad he is!). They share only
their taste for certain sports. At 16 1/2 years old, Carlos is already quite
    an athlete.

As first "pro type shoot", Olivier was at the camera and I was in charge
of the light and other small considerations in my role of assistant.

During the setup, Carlos was patient but eager to start as the excitement
    kicked in!

…and then, the shooting really started:

    Carlos in studio

    Carlos in studio

    Carlos in studio

    Carlos in studio

    Carlos in studio

As I was publishing these, I heard some "party" in the studio! Carlos
and Olivier, using the setup, decided to go on… will post that later!

    C&C welcomed — All SOOC!

The rest of the shoot is on our website: Carlos in studio

The student moving on...Olivier is getting better than you, I think... All good shots with carefully controlled lighting and composition.

When I started in photography, I was introduced to scientific photography by
the father of a university mate then. Being a student in Nature Sciences, I was
very interested and just slightly biased. ;-)

When the university science photographer retired, I was offered to take over
the job. This was following what the man told me: "…the pupil should surpass
the master!" In this competitive world of professional photography, I must, as
father, give him all I can… this is my duty and my pride.

Kodiak you have a good outlook on your paternal duties, keep up the good work . This is a great series of images, well lit and the subject worked the action for you. Congratulations to all concerned.

Fascinating series blessed with an ideal model! What equipment created the cross hatched lighting in the background?

A 5 foot Octa dressed and positioned so that the spill will project the grid on
the background as lighting the subject. I know, very unorthodox! … but I'm
always trying things that are off the box!

I don't review studio photography enough to know that lighting the background that way is unorthodox but I sure do like it. Thanks for the explanation!

Wonderful shots of a handsome lad! Some youngsters are lucky to have exceptionally clear complexions. I certainly was not one of those lucky ones.
