    Following the storm

Another one from Lake Wakatipu, taken about fifteen minutes after the image in my Lake Wakatipu thread. This one was from a parking area further along the lake on the Queenstown to Glenorchy road. Featuring the same storm clouds and the sunlit patch of lake shore.

As always I welcome your thoughts and or critique. I haven't cropped the image at all just had a little play in LR then resized in PS for posting here.

Yup gets my thumbs up! its a pity that the path bends out of the image but theres not much you could have done about that, great colours & sharpness, fluffy clods, ya got it all. well done

My wife and I hike a lot, especially while vacationing, and I really enjoy not just this style of photo but also this photo in particular. Consider cropping at the top to exclude the blue patch of sky and to draw more attention to the trail.

Mine too, Peter… all three of them! ;-)

I appreciate to see the houses that give a better idea of the gigantic proportions
    of that scene. Beautiful nature!

Sorry Mike & Binnur… I don't. This is gigantically good the way it is!

The greatest feature of this shot is its layering! From 2-3 meter to infinity,
there is something to be seen!

Alternatively, crop from the bottom to concentrate more on the far distance/sky.

Try a 4 x 5 ratio of both crop options and see if they look any better.

I suspect a crop will appear to draw the sky and path 'closer together' but nothing really wrong with the current image.

Me too. I like the vista and it is well captured. Wish I was there.

Very nice indeed Peter. The only comment from me is that perhaps the brown and green grasses look a little over-saturated in colour. However that's just a matter of personal taste.

    Peter,
Beautiful setting. I wouldn't crop it either. I like the large scenic view and the house provides a point of scale for the majestic scene.

Thanks for all of your comments everyone. The bride has said she likes it too, so my next challenge is to soft proof it prior to home printing at A3.
I shall leave the decision on where in the house it shall hang to SWMBO, I know my place in the pecking order of this little abode 🙊🙉🙈

Yup. I can relate to your situation. In my family of two, on a good day I'm in second place. On a bad day I'm in last place.

I agree with your bride. It's beautiful as is. I'm envious- we were there last a year ago- & I long to return.

    Re: Following the storm

Thanks Irene and Mike for stopping by and commenting. We only stopped at the car park to allow me to take an image or two of TSS Earnslaw as it was steaming along the Lake. Those images are OK but they won't be getting any wall space 😉
Irene I too would love to visit New Zealand again. Our number one Son said "where's that" when he saw this image; then continued with "Oh by the way I may have to go to NZ on business again" I offered to go in his place but I'm not sure his clients would accept me as a substitute 😳
