    I screwed up...again

It's becoming more frequent...maybe an age thing combined with the diming bulb syndrome.

My camera was gone for two weeks...KelbyOne had a sale price that I fell for...nuff said.
It is unquestionably, one of the worse decision I've made in recent years! To list the inadequacies
would take more time that the site even deserves...avoid it like a plague!

Sorry to learn that you're so disappointed after parting with your money. Next time just send it to me.

The money involved was the lesser disappointment, it takes second place to something on which I've
always prided myself...judgment...and the possibility of a slippery slope.

Not to embarrass you, but rather, is that the Kelby name we know of?

Sorry, but I can't see through this stuff - what is this thread about?

My dissatisfaction with http://kelbyone.com/ and disappointment in allowing myself to be roped in.

I screwed up too. I installed OS 10.9.4 without waiting a month to see what it f&^&&^ up. Now my 4TB Thunderbolt backup drive won't mount. The update blew up the RAID 0 configuration. While screwing around with connections etc, I broke my desk lamp. Swell.

Screwing up is so easy to do. I set my Sigma 17-70mm too close to the edge of a table and watched with disbelief as it instantly rolled off and fell 3 ft (0.984252m) onto a solid wooden floor. Although it still seems to work for most shots, the edge CA at 17mm is a joy to behold.

Now that the thread has evolved into a list of screw ups, my worst photographic screw up occurred in 1984 when I opened the camera back in bright sunshine while the roll of film remained stretched across the film plane.

My worst non-photographic screw up was on a blind date. I knew her age and interests but nothing else. When I knocked at the door of her home, a woman promptly appeared. I cheerfully gave my name and explained that I was there to see her daughter. The woman at the door was my date.

Had one similar, Mike. My first visit to the USA, hired a Piper Cub out of Waynesville, OH (cheap, 10 quid an hour, IIRC). I took some never-to-be-repeated aerial shots over the King's Island Amusement Park. Got one or two other shots from the same roll on the airline flight back to England. However, re-winding the film (Praktica MTL3) seemed unusually easy . . because the film had never engaged on the sprockets in the first instance. Glurk.

    cheers

She simply explained that she was the person I was looking for. The real problem was that the rest of the date went downhill from there, as hard to believe as that might be.

    Chauncey:

So, I take it that you wouldn't recommend anyone else signing up for the tutorials?

When I first started with Lightroom (version 1), I looked at several books - the ones by Kelby and Martin Evening seemed to stand out. After spending another 1/2 hour comparing them, I started to realize that Martin Evening's book dealt with principles, which when mastered, would provide more insight into the program. Kelby on the other hand, provided easy "fix-its", but (to me at least) seemed to be light on the basic principles. Also, once you've heard a joke a couple of times it starts to wear a bit thin (Kelby seems to use the humour technique in his writing quite a bit).

So perhaps I'm not so surprised at what you found.

Years later that silver tongued line of s**t hasn't failed ya.
Does three divorces count for much?

He does tend to "dumb it down" assuming that we're all complete idiots...goes off on tangents...is rather lax, especially in the CC area, seems to pirate instructors from Adobe were they teach the same thing for free.
