DxO giveaway from Practical Photography magazine...

    Hi everybody,

Now for those of you that know me, you'll know I monitor various sites, blogs and columns written by many photographic sources and whenever I find something good I'll almost always share it here...

So, I went into facebook this morning to find a post from WEX Photographic (A retailer here in the UK) advising to go out and buy the latest issue of Practical Photography magazine.

With said purchase, a free copy of DxO Optics 7 was promised.

There's bound to be some sort of catch, right?

    No. And I don't even think you'll have to buy the magazine, as it just directs you to;

    http://www.dxo.com/intl/practicalphotography

All the site asks is for you to enter your email and fill out one of those CAPTCHA text things.

Download the file. Go to your email for the activation code and you're up and running with some nice new software that's only slightly old. Mint.

The only down side that I can see, is that it's non-upgradeable. But if I really like it, I'll buy the latest version as it's quite cheap anyway.

Let me know if you found the above link worked.

Not much of a deal. They've been up to DxO Optics 9 for quite some time, so unless you have an older camera, not much of a deal (as DxO is primarily a RAW converter, you need to ensure that your camera model is supported). I think V7 came out in 2011.

I look at it as a way to see if if you like it and if you do then go out and buy the software

Anything free is better than nothing especially for people who (a) want to try something or (b) can't AFFORD something so don't knock it

Thanks for the info, Mark. I have just tried the link above but it now says the offer has expired.

As you can see, this thread is from mid-2014. It is very likely that the offer is no longer available.

    Hi dk johnsonere,

I rushed off to get it, too, only to discover that Sigma is not supported (whine)

I call it "The Gap", like in a list of supported cameras:

    .
    .
    - Samsung
    - (the gap)
    - Sony
    .
    .
