I switched from centre-weighted to spot (I don't usually use multi-point/evaluative), and I am getting better results by metering off the land areas alone. I will try some with the histogram (it's a bit slow on the Leica) to pin down what the issue is.

    Thanks for all the comments.

After another day's shooting, Wayland's advice to trust the histogram has sorted it. Thanks!

With hindsight, the problems arise from low sun angles putting land into shadow deeper and earlier in the day
than I'm used to further south, and in cases when I shoot partly towards the sun the lower sky is brighter than I'm used to, which over-influences the meter. If I keep thinking "evening landscapes, southern England" then I'll get in the right mindset and adjust accordingly.

I can't post any results until I can get some quality pp time on my wife's MBA, but will do so later.

    Glad that helped Paul.

Look forward to seeing the results.

If things go to plan I should be leading a couple of tours over there next spring so I'm always interested in seeing what people find over there.

I have started a thread in the Nature & Architecture forum and will post some photos over the next days/weeks as I process them. I've put some from Reykjavik there for starters.
