    Photo Collection Books

do you guys know any collection of photos (not magazines) worth buying ? i'm more interested in having the photos large and be able to analyze them in paper format rather than on my monitor.

black and white would be even better. anything worth buying!

    Hi Radu,

If you enjoy portrait photography then the recently published 'Exposure - Jane Bowen' is one I would highly recommend. The book covers her 60 year career shooting for the Guardian newspaper and include many well known and some never seen before shots.

    Radu,

Anything published by Life or Time magazine will be very interesting.

Once you focus in on what particular subject matter interests you most (e.g. landscape, portrait, etc), then you can start making choices.

Another approach, prompted for me by Freeman (2009) helpfully illustrating the different approaches between such as Adams and Paul Strand, is to look at work by different people and compare and contrast. So, looking at some of Strand's work alongside that of Adams', would give you plenty material to analyse (and enjoy).

    Radu,
One of my favorites is 'Steichen's Legacy'. Probably long out of print but my local library has it.
