    I like the compositional ideas behind each of these. However, all three seem very noisy. Maybe if you were to look at that aspect and see if anything could be done to reduce that (incl a reshoot?). I think #1 also needs a small clockwise rotation to get the chess pieces absolutely vertical.

    Clever ideas. Keep going.

    Donald- thank you for the advice! I will attach the altered chess pieces photo- it definitely could use a rotation!

    I think it is vertical now, it just needs a small crop to get rid of the white bits top left and right

    EDIT: or clone or fill them in with background colour
