    Baby Elephant Walk

Baby elephants in South Africa's Madikwe Game Reserve.

The color photo is my wife's capture post-processed by me. Though the baby in her photo appears to be alone in a forest, that's not at all the case. There were at least 30 elephants walking in the same direction, perhaps toward a water hole, and my wife simply isolated this one in her viewfinder. This elephant really is a baby that requires a female (any female, not necessarily its mother) to be nearby so it can nurse.

If you don't know Henry Mancini's tune, Baby Elephant Walk, it helps to look it up and play it.

Great series of shots. I too, like the second shot with its contrast in the size of the feet. Your trip must have been just amazing.

    Thank you, all!

Yes, Suzan, our trip really was amazing. Every day my wife and I pinch ourselves to make sure the whole thing wasn't a dream. We keep living it over and over through our conversations, photos, and emails with our friends that did such a great job of making it very special for us.
