Waterfalls and Fall Color in Spearfish Canyon, South Dakota

A few photos taken during our hiking adventures in Spearfish Canyon South Dakota, I have never really had a chance to shoot with long exposures and low lighting, I know I still have a lot to learn but thought they turned out pretty good considering my lack of practice. PLease feel free to comment.

I see these photos are getting a lot of views, does anyone have anything to say about them?? I am not fishing for compliments but this is how I learn what works and what doesn't by getting your feed back. Thanks

Thank you Nandakumar, like I said I am not fishing for compliments (but I will take them ) I am inexperienced and need feedback to know what to do the same or to do differently. Thanks again for taking the time to post, I really do appreciate it!

3 &4 have great lighting on water and leaves. Looks like a rough spot for a tripod, you couldn't have hand held these?!
    Lovely.

Nancy, it was a pretty rough spot for tripod, just had to get creative! There was no way to hand hold due to the longer exposure. Thanks for taking the time to post and for looking at my photos.

Kathy, you've captured some beautiful colour in these shots. I find autumn colour difficult to capture when there is little light, spring is so much more vibrant, so I think you've done really well in these

Kathy: These are all wonderful. Clear, sharp, and colorful. Your shutter speed was perfect to capture the water flow. Well done!

Thank you Bud, I really took a lot of photos and tried a lot of different shots, some worked and some didn't but I did learn a lot from doing it. (I also did a lot of research on the subject)Thanks so much for looking at my photos and your input.

Really nice images in all your South Dakota posts...
I played with the last of this group using NIK Color Efex Pro and Viveza. It turns out to be quite a different image, not at all better than yours, just different.
I used detail extractor filter in Color Efex pro and adjusted the brightness, contrast, saturation and structure in Viveza. While your image is quite beautifully realistic, mine looks like it came from the Lord of the Rings...
I hope you don't mind me playing with your beautiful image. I will post my edit if you don't object...

    Beautifully done, Kathy!

I particularly like the bottom three because there is a true sense of the falls height and majesty. The first is nice, but there's no way to know if it's 18 inches or 80 ft high. I've done the same approach many times, thinking they'd make a good tight shot, then been disappointed that I'd not done justice to my subject.

    Great job.
