Gone for a walk in the woods.

Gone for a walk in the woods.

Taken at Falkirk Community Hospital ( Re-hab and amputation units) which made the juxstaposition of wheelchair and wall art extremely poignant.

    All C&C welcome

Nice capture. I get a sense of isolation here as well.

Nice interpretation Sharon. Having been someone mobility impaired quite recently, this image really strikes home.

    Thanks Bruce.

I must confess to being incredibly pleased with this shot ( that's rare indeed!) but it clearly makes people uncomfortable and perhaps that was my intention in a sense.

It's a fine line between able and unable...but it is one we will all cross in some way.

Just saw your post after I had replied Manfred . Have had similar issues myself and am glad you got something from the shot. Thank you.

I was just about completely house-bound after surgery on my foot late last summer (end of August until February of this year), so I spent far too much time looking outside, knowing I couldn't physically risk going outside. Crutches and casts and fall / winter weather are not a good mix.

I would almost like to see a follow up shot with the chair tipped over, lying on its side.

I can't find the right words to convey the emotion that this picture evokes and the meaning I take from it. But I know that is about my journey over the past couple of weeks with my partner, who loves the outdoors, who has undergone surgery for ovarian cancer.

    Beautiful and Difficult. Painful.

I am attempting to chronicle my father's experience, all the while knowing how it will end but with the highs and lows that still make up his day. The small successes and the increasing failures. The human spirit is impressively resourceful.

I broke my knee-cap and was in a cast ( pink may i add!) from crotch to toe so I know exactly where you are coming from. May this year be kinder to you.

    You found the right words.

    Beautiful and difficult. Painful.

That describes life perfectly..but don't forget funny, bizarre, absurd ... and fantastic.

In the words of the Marra man...All will be well...hang on in there.

Re: Gone for a walk in the woods.

    Sharon,
I just got back today from a couple of hours walk in a local wood (hunting autumn fungi).
This image brought me up short, particularly because Janet, my wife, now needs oxygen for mobility (not that this slows her down much with her hobby.... retail therapy! :-) )

A beautiful, and as you comment, very poignant shot. And yes, it makes me uncomfortable, but so what, I'll count my blessings!

I'm constantly amazed by the things you bring to my attention with your images.

    Thank you James and Mike.

Dark as some of my images are I am really a very happy person...my nickname is 'Smiler'.

Who knows, maybe that is precisely because I can channel my more sombre thoughts into images and deal with them that way.
