This pic was one of my few forays into macro photography. I believe I may have posted this pic before.

I would rather have seen the anther/stigma in focus with the remaining as good bokeh.

I like the idea, the colour the background.
What I have learned now is to shoot flowers in bright sunlight but shading them from direct light.
Early morning direct sun works fine to get a little depth and mood.

Be careful of blown out highlights on a flower.

Difficult shot you had there, a tad to much bright light.
Focus, I don't think I could have done any better.

A tip Bruce: Flowers = Manual focus + tripod. Try it!

Bruce,

If your camera has Live View, use manual focus and a tripod while magnifying the view to at least 100%. You'll easily see what is and is not in focus. If your camera doesn't have Live View, manually focus on the part that is most important to be in focus. Then capture the scene using a variety of aperture settings. Once you review the photos on your computer, you'll be able to easily determine the depth of field that is most desirable.

I'm not sure that I like the grey vertical streaks in the background but I'm absolutely positive that I like the creativity of the background; I've never seen that sort of background and it's very nice to see something refreshingly new.

I am not really a flower person; however I definitely will use manual focus next time I photograph a flower.
On this shot I did use a tripod.
