    Demolition Derby

We went to the Roanoke Fall Festival last night and, as always, we were running late. Got to the derby with 3 cars left running and a whole mess of cars blocking my view. I could not find a decent vantage point without jumping in front of people (I didn't want to upset people by blocking their view) so I settled for the only open spot I could find...at the far end of the pit.

Not the best...bad spot, wrong lens(I only had the 18-55 with me), poor light, lots of smoke and lacking skills(I am working on the skills thing).

    C&C most appreciated.

Looks like a typical rush hour in Atlanta.

I used to attend (as a spectator) demolition derbies when my son was a young boy. It was a mistake! That is where he learned his driving skills

BTW: these neat images really convey the feeling of that chaotic event!

I think they convey a great atmosphere. Very different to shots in which there were cars racing around. I think these work very well. Good rich tones in the B & Ws.

    Thanks Donald.

These actually came out a whole lot better than I thought they would given the circumstances.

Great set Jon. They speak Chaos to me as well. We have a regular local meet that I keep meaning to attend and I think I must make the effort.

    Re: Demolition Derby

I particularly like the first image---the smoke and steam was what drew my eye and conveyed the chaos that had preceded.
