    Inside City Hall

I took these shots this morning with my Sigma 10-20mm lens. The first is a three shot stitched panorama of the main auditorium which has a beautiful organ and is used for concerts and civic ceremonies. The second and third show the complex ceiling arches and ornate marble in the foyer and vestibules of the building. This building has recently been restored and is a wonderful place to visit.

All shots are hand held, Canon 600D, f/4, ISO 400, shutter speeds ranging from 1/15 sec to 1/40 sec.

    Comments welcome.

    Dave

PS : If you look closely in #1, you will see some distortion in the black rim around the ceiling dome. I think this was caused by the UWA lens. I did apply some correction in PS before stitching but this is the best I could do to get the three images reasonably well aligned.

Bravo, Nicely done. Reminds me of the Methodist Great Hall opposite Westminster Abbey.

Thanks for your comments John, Graham and Nicola. Much appreciated.

Graham I haven't seen the Methodist Hall you mention but I'm sure there is much of our early architecture that was inspired by UK buildings.

Well done, Dave. I have not been inside since the restoration. Among other things, the organ is interesting. Its history is longer than City Hall's. I understand that it was originally installed in what is now referred to as the old museum at Bowen Hills then moved when the City Hall was built in the 1920s (opened 1930).

    Thanks Tony

Yes it's worth a visit, they've done a good job on the restoration. I didn't know that about the organ.

Dave they're all good but I really like the last one. The lighting and detail are both superb.

Dave, these are nice captures. Is it my eyes or is #3 photo leaning to the left?

Bruce it's a bit hard to tell with this image. I've corrected for perspective/wide angle distortion however it's not all gone. eg the main pillar on the left appears to be leaning in a bit. On the other hand, the balustrading in the centre is pretty close to vertical.
