As a side note, have you tried taking the same photo at night time, when I expect it would be lit with colorful lights?

Nice photo... We have a local fair in town that I will likely visit... Any tips to share on how to photograph a Ferris wheel or any amusement rides in motion?

That's a nice shot Andre. I like the slight lean to the right. Adds a dynamic to what would otherwise be a fairly static subject.

Depending on the motion you would like to depict. If you would like to show any motion use a tripod at lower shutter speeds. I would like to do some night time shots in an amusement park trying out "dragging the shutter" a method I would like to master.
You should get great shots with the D7100 in an amusement park. Just try different shutter speeds. Use shutter speed priority and go for it.
