Birds... more from my day at the gulf coast

Last week Dottie and I spent a day at the coast. These were captured at Ft. Desoto County Park and at the fishing pier on Anna Maria Island. C&C welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

Reddish Egret... normally they hunt by running around the flats flapping their wings and cocking their head to point one eye towards the water. This one used a different technique, extending the wing to make a patch of shade and waiting until a fish took shelter in the shade.

Joe, thank you for another wonderful set of photos. I agree with Donald's comment and appreciated your explanation of what the egret was up to in its rather bizarre pose.

This is awesome stuff, Joe. That first egret shot is a crazy good behavioral and the second one is the classic fish toss holy grail of wading birds. But the first willet shot is killer. Followed closely by the second. Techs are spot on for all the shots. Tack sharp and you really handled the harsh lighting on birds that aren't easy to expose well. I think the only thing that could have been an improvement on the egrets would have been water like on the willet shots. You'll have to work on that
