    Posty on his round.

This sort of thing has already been described as hackneyed and old hat on CIC and in red, it must be so yesterday that it is almost out of sight. But as soon as I saw him it spoke to me in terms of a colour pop and I quite like the end result. CC and insults welcomed.

My view, which I've expressed before on here, is that when it's done well, with the right subject in the right setting, then a very fine image can result. When those things don't happen, it's naff.

This one does meet the above criteria, in my opinion.

I think that is a great shot, John, and it doesn't need the selective colouring. It would be much better without it, in my humble opinion.

Did you have one without the bus in shot?

    Spooky.
Sterile environment, no signs of life (except the postman), the bus looks like an derelict.
    In other words: PERFECT.

Things which come to my mind:

    The Day After

    Triffids

    Neutron Bomb.

    KEEP CALM and CARRY ON.

I especially like the red door as an counterpoint.

    Well done.

I'm 100% with Donald on this one, and the postman going towards what looks like the post box (or even if it is a red door) is a great detail that makes it totally appropriate here - that would most likely go unnoticed when lost in B&W.

    Thanks all for your comments.
Precisely my feelings Donald. I have little time for trends. If it looks right it probably is right and should be enjoyed for what it is.

Greg, sometimes a little immediate impact lifts an image from the ordinary. That's what I was hoping for here.

Sorry Adrian, the best I could offer was a different bus. Despite appearances, it was a busy intersection and because he was on the move I only had so much time to grab the shot.

Wolf, Philip, As it happens, all the doors at the back of that building were red - but I can't claim to have noticed that at the time. It was a post processing decision.

    Glad you liked it Tylie
